I love sausage gravy and biscuits! I mean, who doesn't? This recipe is so simple that even my
non-cooking daughter could make this! Here we go...
Ingredients:
1 lb. hot breakfast sausage (such as Tennessee Pride or Jimmy Dean)
4 TBSP all-purpose flour
4 cups milk (I use 1% milk)
10 Biscuits
Directions:
1) Brown the sausage in a fry pan. When cooked through, add flour and mix well.
2) Add the milk. Bring to a slow boil and reduce heat to medium/medium high.
3) Stir continuously. This is when your gravy is thickening. Take off heat when it is to your desired
consistency.
4) Slice/pull apart warm biscuits into two halves and smother with sausage gravy.
5) Enjoy!
Notes: I don't make this very often because I will eat the whole batch! Not good. If you don't like the spicier flavors, use mild sausage. I do not recommend the maple flavor as it doesn't seem to blend well with the milk. Since I don't cook before 12 noon, I make breakfast for dinner; hence, the scrambled eggs were added to our sausage gravy and biscuits.

Oh my goodness!! I can not wait to make this for mu husband! We love biscuits and gravy! Thanks for sharing! : )
ReplyDeleteYum!! I hadn't realized that those of you south of our border (I'm Canadian, eh!) had a thing for biscuits and gravy! When my 2 youngest kids and I made a road trip to Disneyland last fall we were curious to try this new delicacy! It was everywhere! And it was GOOD!!! So, now I have a wonderful recipe to try at home here in the north! Thanks so much Ellen!
ReplyDeleteMy family loves it when I cook this! So easy and yummy! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteYou're killing me here! These are my all time favorite guilty pleasure! Growing up in the south it was the breakfast I always asked for. I know this might sound strange, but I would put jelly or jam on the biscuits before smothering them in gravy. Very yummy! Love your post!
ReplyDeleteGoodness - I've never come across anything like this before. Thanks for sharing at Cookbook Sundays.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you Re maple flavour, I do not care for it in sausage, prefer lots of sage and red pepper.

Reminds me of some of the breakfasts I enjoyed with my family when I was a child. And while I can cook, I never did master gravy. But I think I could make that.
