Bible in 90 Days

Print

Week 2.... Complete!

Wow.... this week was a lot more involved than week 1.  I read from Leviticus 1.1 through Numbers and finished Deuteronomy.

There were so many commands God taught the Israelites throughout these books.  I know I was confused!  Here's a question... each time God commanded the Israelites to offer Burnt Offerings which could include over 10 assorted animals, was this 10+ animals per person or per family or per tribe?  That is a lot of bloodshed to be a "pleasing aroma to the Lord."  Also, why was a sin offering always a male goat?

I am very thankful that these commands and necessary offerings ended with the death, resurrection, and ascension of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

I don't know about you, but I love it when scripture asks a question and then answers it for you.  Check out Deut. 10.12-13:

"And now, O Israel, what does
the Lord your God ask of you(?)...

(but) to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways,
to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart
and with all your soul, and to observe the Lord's commands
and decrees that I (Moses) am giving you today
for your own good."

If you are reading through the Bible in 90 Days with me, how are you doing?  Did you struggle this week as I did?

Blessings,

    Ellen

  3. I am not doing the challenge, but I did start a One Year Bible this year. It's the second time reading it through for me, and all those laws were much harder for me to plow through this time. Horrid in fact.

  4. Nice to meet you, Ellen! I found your site through the Hip Homeschool Hop! I too am reading the Bible in 90 Days challenge and I had to laugh to myself when I read your question - I also thought: "Wow, that is a ton of blood and animals! and Wow, those priests were busy!" There were several parts that confused me and my interest in understanding it all will bring me back to more study for those books. This has been a fabulous visit and I'll return often!

  5. I'm reading the Bible in 90 Days (again) too! I do struggle with those books too. Like you, I don't fully understand the laws and regulations, so that makes it difficult. What it does is give me a great appreciation for the fact that I live under grace, not the Law!

    Happy reading!

  9. Long before they came up with this Bible in 90 days thing, I'd already read the Bible several times through by myself. (I'm probably a couple decades older than most of you, so I've had more time, LOL!) I try to do it once each year, to read through from cover to cover. Each time, I find something new to contemplate... something new the Lord is teaching me. Good for all of you who are doing this!

  11. I am doing the challenge. I started on July 15th instead of the 11th so I am "behind" onthe reading. My question is why does the writer repeat what is needed for the offering for each tribe of Isreal? That's like repeating it 12 times. Or what is the importance of reading all the begats? I am excited to be reading the Bible in 90 days.
