Heaven rejoices! Luke 15

Print

In Luke 15, Jesus is teaching us in parables.  I love the parable of the lost sheep; probably, since I was the one He left the flock of 99 to find and save!

Scripture:
Luke 15.7   "I (Jesus) tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Luke 15.10   "In the same way, I (Jesus) tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

Observation:
God is not looking for the righteous or those who do not need a physician, but the one sinner who repents of his sin and seeks God.

Application:
Jesus has come into our world as a baby, so He could save us from our sins.  In Matthew 9.12 we read: "On hearing this, Jesus said, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.  But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.'  For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'"

I thank God daily for my salvation; I am not worthy to be in His family, but He chose me.  What grace!  What mercy!  I need to go and share Jesus' love with the lost including some in my own family.

Prayer:
Father... Thank You for sending Your Son to save me of my sins (and myself).  Help me to share Your love with those in my immediate circle of influence.  Amen

Blessings,

     Ellen

  1. Thank you for this reminder of God's love and care for us and how He rejoices over those who we sometimes deem "unworthy". But you're right, the truth is we're all unworthy and He loves us anyway! Merry Christmas!

  3. That parable hit me hard when I did the #b90days this summer. I've read it and heard it before, but that time it hit so much harder. Thank you for this reminder.

  5. Amen! I am so thankful that He came for me, and I am praying that God would help me be bolder to tell others---every lost soul I come across. He has such a heart for each one. I want to see them the same way He does.
