Gardening and more

Print
Life has been very hectic this past couple of weeks.  To give you an insight, my twins graduate in 2 weeks and I haven't made / bought / or mailed the invitations for the ceremony and reception.

Now, onto some garden pics!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my first strawberry of the season.  It tasted as beautiful as it looks!

Doesn't this remind you of The Grinch and lil' Cindy Lou Who... from Whoville...

The radished have been producing.  I am very thankful that they all didn't become ready to harvest at once... I'm the only one who eats them!

The beets are starting to poke through.  I'm wondering if they are developed under the ground... hmmmm.

The bell peppers are looking iffy.  We have had a few more temperature swings and I'm not sure if they are going to make it.  I am truly over this bipolar weather.

The squash plants are doing well;  they must be liking their new pots!

My husband received this beautiful Bromeliad for his birthday.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells, and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.
Happy Gardening!

This post may be linked to Tuesday Garden Party and Bloomin' Tuesday.

Blessings,
Ellen

  3. Hi Ellen, Today I'm seeing a lot of RED in your garden. The pics of the strawberries are beautiful. My strawberries are blooming so I'll have some soon too. Nothing like a fresh fruit or vegetable from the garden!

  5. We had a frost last week, and it may have killed my peppers and tomatoes. Of course, I had them in the ground because this spring has been so warm. Ugh!

I bought a bunch of strawberry plants this year. I'm not sure if we'll get strawberries. A certain 4 year old has been harvesting a bit too early. I'm not sure if netting would protect the strawberries from him.

  6. I have a graduation coming up too - and we are just now addressing invitations! I'm afraid the garden is taking a back seat to other home improvements this year! Your strawberries look luscious!

  10. Yes--bipolar weather is a good way of putting it! I never have any luck with hot-weather plants like peppers or eggplant unless I grow them under plastic all summer, because here it never gets warm enough at night for the plants to grow and fruit to mature. It's a labor of love, because I love the fresh veggis from the garden! Maybe if you try covering them with hoops and clear plastic until it warms up a bit it might help. And the strawberry and radishes are gorgeous--that deep red!

  12. Oh congratulations! You are so lucky that you're getting goodies to grow here! We live in Atlanta and don't have any luck with our garden. Luckily the local farmers market is a wonderful treat just up the road!

    Happy seeing beautiful!

  13. Yum! Great looking garden! It's still way chilly here in Maine! Our peas have poked through, but most of us haven't even rototilled yet! We have some seeds started in mini greenhouses in our sun room, but otherwise we're waiting until it's not in the 20s at night! ;) I can't wait to sample our veggies though! Your strawberry looks SWEET! LOL
