Fiction - Fantasy
After choosing to read Halflings and even after receiving it from NetGalley.com, I questioned myself why I agreed to read it. Why? I'm not a big fan of the Fantasy genre of books.
Well, can I tell you I was blown away? I didn't want to put the book down but, unfortunately, I had to do housekeeping and mom chores (as well as sleep). Ask my hubby, I laid in bed last night trying to figure out the last 60 pages of the book!
So, what is a "Halfling?" One who is half man and half angel, of course. Simple, right? No. These wonderful fictional beings live neither in heaven nor earth and are neither heavenly beings or earthly beings. Since they "live between' two worlds, they consider themselves "Lost Boys - Raven, Mace, and Vine."
They have been sent to the earth realm to protect Nikki Youngblood, a typical fun-loving 17 year old. What has she done to be the target of such evil needing protection? As Nikki and the boys, along with their overseer Will, work to keep her safe, new surprises surface around each corner. Will she find the safety she needs? Will she be able to protect her heart and Mace's soul?
This is the first book of the Halfling Trilogy. I look forward to reading the next installment later this year.... none too soon if you ask me!
I received a complimentary e-book from Zondervan Publisher and NetGalley.com for my honest review. Thanks!
Blessings,
Ellen
